EP.246/ Treating chronic and hidden utis in endo and interstitial cystitis patients with catherine and lauren lee of semaine

Today’s episode we have some returning guests, my friends and co-founders of Semaine, Lauren and Catherine Lee! If you haven’t listened to my first episode with them, I really recommend you check that episode out to hear their endometriosis stories and all about founding supplement company, Semaine. But let’s do a quick recap for those of you who aren’t familiar…

Catherine and Lauren started Semaine Health several years ago to address period pain and hormonal imbalances with plant-based, science-backed supplements.

After decades of painful periods and suffering from stage II and stage IV endometriosis, Catherine and Lauren created the solution they were looking for: a plant-based anti-inflammatory supplement to help lessen their pain while supporting their overall health.

Cath and Lar are driven by the desire to empower other women who have experienced pain and discomfort, who are looking for answers rather than being dismissed or told their symptoms are normal.

In this episode, we’re talking about one of their fairly new products, Urinary Cleanse & Protect. Research shows that up to 80% of people with endometriosis also suffer with interstitial cystitis, a chronic bladder pain condition, and for many of us, finding relief is incredibly difficult. Some specialists believe that hidden and embedded UTIs are to blame for a number of cases, and having performed advanced UTI testing myself, I can now say that two hidden UTIs, which have been present for coming up to two decades, are one of the major factors contributing to my bladder issues. Semaine actually sent me a sample to try and I am so surprised by the symptom improvement that I wanted to get them on to talk about this!

So, in today’s episode we are discussing:

  • The ingredients in Urinary Cleanse and Protect and how they compare to other UTI treatments on the market and in the research.

  • How effective these ingredients are for clearing UTIs and the evidence and trials demonstrating this.

  • The problem of biofilms within the IC and UTI community, and whether their product can help to address that issue.

  • The feedback they’ve had so far from the IC/endo community.

  • How someone with recurrent UTIs/chronic UTIs/IC best use this supplement.
